Producer's description: THE EVENT- Good crowd, lively crowd. Good open mic participants. THE PLACE- Scrumptious food. Don't bother having dinner at home; eat there. Perks for features: At the gig, you may sell your chap books, your CDs and other media of your work.
Negatives: Foam coffee gizmo noise, not constant but still something to contend with. Some fan noise. Occasionally chatty at the back of the audience, not a sign of disinterest but of excitement to be out and among other enthusiasts.
Feature's responabilities include but are not limited to: Don't be a wanker. Get off of the mic when your time has run out. Your introductions to your poems, and all other dialog, and the sipping of water, all these things count as part of your time; factor it all in.

This is a list of events that include featured poets reading their works. Contact info and submission criteria are included. I co-produce a couple of poetry series with Cliff Lynn in Annapolis. I'm listing these plus a few others, which might include events in northern Virginia or Washington DC. I also try to specify if other art forms are welcome at an event, such as mus¡c or flash fiction, as well as if the event includes both featured poets and open mic segments. Criteria for inclusion on this page: it has to be an event that I have attended at least a few times and feel good about.
